It was only Thursday evening, but it was one of those days that you feel like you are going to miss your whole weekend.
First off, thank you, I enjoyed the day with Mom. She's doing really well for someone who is almost 80!!!! She finished cleaning up all the leaves in her yard yesterday. She still lives in the house I grew up in - it's been more than 40 years !!!! She still has about an acre of property and tends her gardens and does as much of the yard work as she can.
The wind and rain had been incredible for a couple of days (gusts up to 60 mph) and temperatures dropped (into the 30sF) as the days went on. We didn't spend much time playing outside and because Rocky didn't get his nap in the morning and was very restless all evening.
New jammies and "shoes" arrived this week. Jammies he's dealing with pretty well . . . shoes, not so much. But we'll keep working on it.
Friday was a blur - grocery shopping, school meeting, church responsibilities. I'm definitely not complaining and as Honey Do reminded me: you make your own schedule and list of responsibilities. Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing :)
Friday's are usually my night off of cooking, sometimes Saturday. So it gave me time to work on my "Big Star" for DOD's row-along.
It's coming along, I have some handstitching to do, but almost finished. I am really feeling my lack of experience. I have to earn it somewhere and this is teaching me A LOT !!!!
I received GORGEOUS squishy mail from Susan this week. She knows one of my weeknesses is pink fabric :) There's a Christmas theme to add to my collection as well :)
Thank you, Susan. You spoil me :)
Saturday . . .
I spent time with my kitchen. Yes, my kitchen :)
The morning began with breakfast then the cooking.
First up, cutting up the sirloin tip for Goulash. All I have left to do on Sunday is make the gravy and the rest of the meals.
I continued by making two pans of lasagne, one for mom, one for us and put them in the freezer.
Then I made one of Mom's favorite snacks: carmelized crispix with nuts.
That was my whole day. By the time I finished all this, it was time to make dinner. That was an easy freezer meal. I did dishes and kept them up all day so as not to be overwhelmed with cleaning up. Not to mention, my kitchen just isn't big enough to not follow that routine.
I spent the evening in my lazyboy with my pup watching old movies. It was a very relaxing evening.
Sunday . . . Mom's coming to celebrate her birthday with me.
The goulash is warming in the crockpot, the potatoes are peeled and in their pan. Mom wanted to bring something so she's baking an apple cake - one of my favorites.
The day is sunny, temperatures are forcast in the 60s !!!
There should even be some time to work on my star today.
Thanks for stopping by,
Wishing you a day filled with creativity.

You've been busy! I'm amazed your Sunday was so nice. Usually ours is nice and you are freezing! LOL We had cloudy weather all day and it was chilly, but it felt bone cold to me. low 50s and no sunshine. I'm glad you like your pinks. =) What a favor you do me by liking pink! If there are leftovers from all these blocks, you know who's going to be getting more pink nine-patches! LOL I'm so glad you've spent so much time with your mom this week. You are so lucky to have her, and she's so active still! She drives? I hope I still can when I'm 80 - and that's closer than I like to imagine. LOL A dozen years passes quickly. I hope this coming week gives you more sewing time.
