Goals for the week ending April 18, 2017 and April 25, 2017

It has been a hectic few weeks. Bible Study is in it's final weeks, the weather has been up and down. When the weather's been decent, I've been outside.

These aren't the best photos, but the gardens are all mulched and ready for the growing season. Everything looks nice and clean at the moment. I was blessed with help from Honey Do and Newton last weekend to get them all done. On to the vegetable garden, if the rains would just hold off long enough to let things dry out.

Goals for the week ending April 18, 2017

1. Redwork
- quilt 9-patch rows

I don't get much opportunity to work on this quilt, but every time I do I fall more and more in love with it. There will be two rows like this that will go in between the little redwork stitcheries. Just enough to break up it up.

I decided I wanted to make the redwork quilt my main goal so I can have it finished by the beginning of May.I'm still on track to finish it - definitely not the first :)

2. Picket Fence
 - continue stitching

Growing Up QAL

Absolutely loved this month's projects. There's one more block, but I'm still working on it. I've got this one sandwiched and machine-quilted (which the photo doesn't reflect).

Goals for the week ending May 5, 2017
1. Redwork quilt

2. Growing Up QAL block

Goals for the week ending April 11, 2017

So I've been a bit of a slacker the last couple of weeks. I'm blaming it on spring break and the weather . . . that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it :)

We got a visit from April Fool, albeit a week late . . .

We got about four inches, but it's hard to tell with all the water sitting around from all the rain a few days earlier.

This is what I found a couple of days later - after the snow had all melted. It's in the general vicinity of the second photo above. I've never seen it do this before and thought it was really cool :)

Goals for the week ending April 11, 2017

1. Redwork - DONE
- quilt row 2

- quilt row 3 - DONE

- make 9-patches - DONE
- sew 9-patches into rows - DONE

One of the other reasons why I didn't get more done on other projects - I was having too much fun working on the quilt :)

2. Picket Fence - some progress, but not much worth mentioning
- continue stitching

3. Easter - no progress
- begin stitching block 2

Goals for the week ending April 18, 2017

1. Redwork

2. Picket Fence
- continue stitching

I've decided to keep working on the Redwork quilt. I would really like to have it completely assembled by the first week of May.

And the rains just keep coming . . .

Friday's forecast:  90% chance of rain

We've had rain off and on all week and for once the weatherman was accurate.

With all this rain, the back yard is virtually useless for the next few weeks. After that I'll be in the garden. I saw my first advertisement for mulch this week. I've been waiting and the purchase will be the next step to spring yard work.

It's been a mostly relaxing week  with not much getting done on the home front. It's spring break, thought I should enjoy it too.

Friday morning was spent catching up emails, a trip to the grocery store for dinner supplies and the library for a couple of movies and a book.

The afternoon was spent quilting the first row of Redwork.

I just did simple quilting inside the block and around the stitching. I'm using a very light-weight machine that really doesn't even fee the blocks well. It does OK on single thickness but if you add any bulk at all, it fights you - so that's what's up with the uneven stitching. It will have to do until I decide on what kind of machine I want, need and have to spend.
