Pleasant time at home and a long weekend

Tuesday, I spent the day with Mom. She had some errands she wanted to run and I had a stop I wanted to make.

The ride home was pleasant enough, with the promise of rain.

It was overcast and the promised rain came in sheets and I ended up soaked.

I finished my monthly block obligations (self-imposed) on Monday and that freed me up the rest of the week to work on my other (self-imposed) obligations, more fondly known as my "goal list".

I'm still aiming for getting my Mystery #1 quilt completely finished by the end of May - next week for anyone not keeping track.

I finished quilting the next three blocks on Wednesday. I already had two done. Thursday, I finished the sixth block. That leaves just the sashing and borders to quilt in the next week. I think I can do that.

I spent some time on Wednesday and Thursday putting in my new baby plants and pulling the rest of the weeds that grew over my floral bulbs from last year. On to the flower beds.

I hope you all have had a good week. Not sure what we have planned for our long weekend. Everybody's home for three days. I'm sure there will be a walk in there and maybe some fishing, as Newton is asking Honey Do. And maybe a good book for me :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse of the Day

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,

Goals and Catching Up

It has been a really crazy time for me - not that it has changed much since the middle of January. I have really missed being able to share what's going on in my sewing room, but at least I've been able to keep up with your blogs and activities.

Mom is progressing nicely and will finish the last of her in home therapy this week. I'm still helping her as much as I can, usually a couple of days a week.

Honey Do is also doing fairly well. He pretty much takes care of himself. I've been working hard to keep up my responsibilities at home although the gardens have not had much of my attention. We did get the vegetable garden tilled and straightened out, so it's ready for planting. Unfortunately, it's been so chilly and wet that the only thing I have planted so far is a celery I rooted in my kitchen window. I'm hoping to get some done this weekend.

So here's what I've been up to:

1. Crazy Quilt Block
- continue stitching
no progress here :(

2. Starry Night
- assemble block and post
DONE

3. P&N BOM
- prep block for class
DONE *

4. Baby Quilt
- quilt
no progress

5. Mystery QAL #1
- continue quilting
making progress, but not much

6. Bee BOM
- add sashing
DONE for April *

7. Mom - PJs
DONE *

* forgot to get pictures of all of these.

8. Bear and Color Challenge BOM
DONE

I chose to do some fancy stitching with my new machine. I really like the way it turned out, especially on the back of the block.

Here are my goals for the rest of May:

1. Crazy Quilt BOM
- get back to stitching

2. Fall into a Quilt
- block 1

3. Mystery QAL #1
- finish quilting

4. Mystery QAL #2
- finish cutting out pieces

5. "Bee" BOM
- assemble May block

6. P&N Baby Quilt
- quilt and bind

That should keep me busy this week and into the long weekend.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse of the Day

April's end

April quickly came to an end. There was still much that needed to be accomplished. Namely my blocks of the month. I got them all done, except for my sewing class.

Color Block Challenge - Orange

Color Bear - orange

Bee block of the month - unfortunately my cell phone service provider wasn't playing nice this month so I don't have a picture to post.

Mystery QAL #1 - needs quilted and I've begun that. I would have liked to see this done before the end of the month, but that was unrealistic and my time limited at the sewing machine.

I also managed to get Starry Night BOM finished, but again couldn't download the picture. And it really turned out great.

I spent a wonderful days with mom on Friday, Monday and Thursday. She's been doing well with physical therapy and I'm just thrilled and grateful for her progress toward independence. She is really progressing well. Thank you everyone who has prayed for her and asked after her. Your prayers and moral support and genuine caring have made this adventure successful.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse of the Day

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.’

Three Favorite Quotes, Day 3

I've been invited by my dear friend, Susan, to participate in a The 3 Day Quote Challenge.

What an interesting challenge !!

So for my third quote, and there were still so many to have to choose from:

Nelson Mandela. What can I say that hasn't already been said. What an amazing man.

But like my other "favorite" quotes, it's all about attitude. You can view yourself or others as losers, but it's more important that we learn from all of the experiences life offers us.  If we don't learn something, it's just a waste of time and energy.

Thank you, Susan, for giving me this opportunity.

Here are the Rules for participation:
– Thank the person who nominated you
– Post a quote for three consecutive days (1 quote for each day)
– Share why this quote appeals to you so much
– Nominate 3 different bloggers for each day

My nominees:

And since it's the last day, here are a few more of my favorites just because I can :)

Three Favorite Quotes, Day 2

I've been invited by my dear friend, Susan, to participate in a The 3 Day Quote Challenge.

What an interesting challenge !!

So for my second quote, and there were still many to have to choose from:

It is no secret that Abraham Lincoln was my favorite president. I love his humble background and the fact that he stood up for what he believed and fought for it. And how inspirational is it that we don't live in the past but look forward and make life better. Don't live with regret. It's negative energy and we all have better things to do with our time and energy.

Thank you, Susan, for giving me this opportunity.

Three Favorite Quotes, Day 1

Aren't we all looking for something positive or inspiring in our lives, in our days?

I've been invited by my dear friend, Susan, to participate in a The 3 Day Quote Challenge.

What an interesting challenge !!

So for my first quote, and there were many to have to choose from:

I LOVE this quote. And I love the thought that my attitude has that kind of strength and power. And doesn't it? No matter what our attitudes are, they have the power to make or break our days, our relationships. More importantly, we have the power to choose.

Years ago, in a Sunday School class we studied the book Love is a Decision. In other words, it's a choice. We choose to love, or hate, or be nasty or be kind. I try really hard to start my day with a positive attitude and not to let any negativity make it bad or unbearable.

So set the pace for ole Satan, and you be in charge of your own attitude.

Thank you, Susan, for giving me this opportunity.
