Louisville, Kentucky - Day 2 and Day 3

These days would have been Wednesday and Thursday . . .

and I took no pictures :) However, there are websites, don't you know?

I spent Wednesday with a really good, relatively new friend, Susan, who generously came to Louisville to spend the day with me. We spent the morning visiting two quilt shops that were absolutely lovely. The first, Among Friends and the second, The Cozy Quilter. Both were great shopping experiences and I will have no problem shopping them over the net to meet some of my needs and especially wants :)

I made a list before I left home and managed to stay within my budget - but it wasn't easy.

I did take pictures when I got home.

 

A few things are missing:  a fat quarter and brown micron pen that I shared with BF. She was already planning what to do with the fat quarter while we met over breakfast. And a couple of fat quarters to go into my Shoebox Swap for the end of the year. The colors would give away who they are for and then the surprise would be spoiled and we don't want to do that.

A few of my purchases have definite plans and the rest is just because I liked them and will come up with a project down the road.

We returned to my hotel after sharing lunch and spent the afternoon as friends do best . . . stitching and chatting. The day ended much too quickly and I can't wait for an excuse to get together again. 

Thursday, I spent the majority of my day in the hotel room - by choice - catching up on emails, trying to write my blog and stitching. I worked on a project for the ShoeBox exchange at the end of the year and then on Wendy's BOF. I am seriously behind. I'll have photos next week of those. I took several other projects, but fortunately, I was busy doing other things that I really didn't get much done. That was okay, but I have to have a back-up plan, just in case :)

Louisville, Kentucky - Day 1

Gone . . . Again?

Yes, I’ve been AWOL . . . again !!! But this time it’s not really my fault. I didn’t really choose to be gone – at least from my blog. Honey Do had a trade show to attend in Louisville, Kentucky. He wanted me to go along and of course, I did so willingly. It’s actually my annual trip away from home. I secured room and board for Newton and my father-in-law came for a visit and is caring for my pups and birds. I prepared lots of stitchery projects to take with me. I can only shop so long and so much and relish the quiet and solitude of the hotel room to be with my projects and my thoughts. Unfortunately, the internet was uncooperative and wouldn’t allow me to keep up my blog. 

Anyway, here’s what we did:

Tuesday was spent traveling and setting up at the trade show. It was about a six hour ride and Honey Do is an excellent driver/chauffeur.  I’m a terrible navigator but do my best to talk to him and keep him entertained. I also do my best to capture the trip in photos.

Even saw a vintage car - he was cruising at a pretty good speed.

Everything is back to full foliage after winter. The greens were amazing.

Our room - beautiful. I don't think we've stayed in a bad one yet.

An evening stroll brought us down to the Ohio River. Moored was the Belle of Louisville.

Louisville is also home to Louisville Slugger baseball bats.

I didn't get the name of this building but the dome lit up every night was gorgeous.

Cinderella's carriage was available to rent.

And that was how our first day ended. It was a good day all around.

Friday Night Sew In

Here's what I got up to:

Mending . . .

Jeans that needed shortening for me.

Prepared some new stitchery . . .

9-patches are a great way to use up scraps. Managed to get about a dozen made to swap.

 

Oohh'd and aahh'd over Honey Do's newest creations. So excited about what he accomplishes in his shop. He turns the acrylics and adds them to ready made products. Colors can be customized (at least to a point) to match any kitchen. I've already placed my orders. These are samples to go back to work. He amazes me !!!

The fun will continued on into the weekend since I spent so much of my week cleaning house and setting up the guest room and new master bedroom. My goal is to finish the needlebook, but will have to show you that later as it's for another swap - secret.

What's been occupying my time this week . . .

The majority of the last week has been spent cleaning, purging, reorganizing and setting up our new master bedroom :)

I don't have anything pretty on the walls yet. The room is still pretty utilitarian at the moment, but I still love my pretty bed. The blue ruffled pillow cases are from a twin set my sister received for a wedding gift almost 30 years ago - does that qualify as "vintage"? They have flowers and butterflies on a white background and I put the flat sheets over the curtain rods until I have a chance to make curtains out of them.

The decorative pillows I stitched several years ago and the "frog" was on clearance a couple of summers ago. My Tilda quilt is my most prize possession at the moment.

I got a small thank you gift ready for a sweet lady who was helping me out with a situation. I had a very nice visit with her this morning before I went to church to start working on Vacation Bible School crafts.

Where have I been?

May is about half over. I feel like I've got too much on my plate at the moment, but there's lots going on - long term.

I seem to be going, but the road never ends.

 

I have managed to get one project started and finished :) 

This adorable little birdhouse pin cushion. Otherwise, I have been cleaning, purging, reorganizing and setting up a guest room for father-in-law's visit this month. I've also been making arrangements for the care of Newton and pups for a business trip that Honey Do has planned and I'm fortunate enough to tag along.

 

Spring is in full bloom here in northeast Ohio. The first picture of my lilac is from about mid week (last week) and the second from Mother's day. 

Just a few days of really warm weather and all the spring blossoms are blooming.

This azalea is this bright. Sometimes the pictures don't reflect the true colors of the blooms.

I'm hoping to bring this little cutey home later in the month. Mama Jazzy is weening her babies. He's a little chihuahua. My Niece and I have named him Chewy :)
