Mystery 2 QAL

It's finally time for the big reveal!!!

It's been three long months of purchasing fabric, planning designs and executing our thoughts and hopes into something tangible.

And some of us were fortunate enough to finish early, but all that meant for our faithful followers was you got teased and made to wait.

How cruel was I???
Yes, I was one of those who made you wait.

The wait is finally over!!I

But first the rules . . .  There are always rules 😜

We could choose any project, big or small.

We had to use one required fabric, in whatever quantity you and your project decided - your projects talk to you, right?

And that's it. Pretty easy to follow two rules.

So without further adieu . . .

I made a wall hanging this time.
The pattern was given to my by a co-worker of Honey Do. Her mom passed away recently and I was gifted a couple of scrap boxes of fabric. Some of the pieces were a pretty good size and I chose the red version of the required fabric.

And I told you about the backing fabric in the first photo here.

I enjoyed this fun project. I liked that I could pull fabrics from my stash and there are no other major requirements. I also love that it lets me play more with my new sewing machine. All the different stitches are fun to find places to use just the right one.

Thank you, Cindy. We're sorry you won't be hosting Mystery #3, but know that we have all enjoyed your time and especially your encouragement.

There will be a Mystery 3 QAL. You can join us in the fun and read all the requirements here. Thank you, Tracy, for continuing to be hostess.

Both Cindy and Tracy have a list of all the participants. Check out all the creative, beautiful projects that Mystery 2 produced.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse

HQAL

It's been another three weeks since our last report. Fortunately, this time I have things to share:

CQJP2018 - Block 2 is completed.

CQJP2018 - Block 3 is underway.

Mystery #2 QAL

Everything was done on the machine except the label, the hangers and the second half of the binding.

The backing fabric is from the early 1990s when I worked in a small, family run fabric shop from one of the Carolinas. Memory is not what it used to be. I did really enjoy that job. It feels really good to have accomplished so much in such a short three weeks. That time really does by quickly.

Make sure you check in and see what fellow stitchers are up to. So many beautiful projects. And thank you Kathy for giving us a place to shine.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Wednesday/Thursday goals

My goals for Wednesday and Thursday were to be at home, alone, no outside distractions to work on my BOMs. Things didn't go exactly as planned. In fact, everything just rolled over into the weekend.

Wednesday started out with rain and a walk,
then got to the sewing machine.

I finished one more of the sewing class blocks of the month . . .

I tried to finish the second block for Starry Night. It didn't go as planned, I got frustrated and it end up in the trash. At least I tried :)

I moved on to the Color and Color Bear challenge.
This went much better.

All the pieces for Color were cut and all the pieces for Bear were traced and transferred to fabric which I cut out Thursday morning.

Assembly went much faster too. Both blocks are completely assembled and quilted.

We had lots of rain on Friday and Saturday. Friday I got to meet my sister, oldest niece and her four boys for lunch. It was a very nice time together.

My sister had leftover hay that was not going to be used. I could have it for my garden if I wanted.

I spent these two days untying and spreading the hay. It makes a good mulch and compost in my vegetable garden. This picture doesn't show it but I got it all spread and the aisles covered. Looks really clean now that the weeds are all covered. Hopefully they will suffocate under the hay and my trampings. Everything has doubled in size over the last couple of weeks. And I've lost none of my plants. Happy girl :)

Thanks for stopping by,

wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse of the Day

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Monday's Progress Report

I LOVE Mondays !!!

Everyone goes back to work/school,
the house is empty but for me and the pups.

I begin my day with basic chores and start the laundry, prep dinner. I'm still mostly making a menu but trying to use more of what we have and not running out to get more supplies. I like staying home.

I managed to catch up my laundry and even put it out on the line to dry. It was 93, felt like 100. The heat just wrapped itself around you when you walked out the door.

Consequently, we made numerous trips outside only staying for small bits of time.

Rocky managed burst of energy to play before asking to go back inside.

or . . .

was he asking to go for a walk?

He has the pouting routine down to a science !!!

We did get that walk in, a short one, but not until almost 9:30 p.m. Before the rains hit about 10 p.m. until early Tuesday morning. The garden is going to love the slow, steady of it.

It was still 80 degrees when we ventured out. I didn't want it to get any later or darker.

Other than that I spent my day, as I said, catching up laundry and prepping for Mystery #3. It's hard to reign in my excitement over a new project !!

I'm waiting for the required fabric to arrive. My super sweet friend Susan took care of that for both of us :)
And no you can't have her !!!

Aren't the colors great and confusing? Can't wait to dive in !!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse of the Day

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

FNSI

I managed to sign up for this month's gathering of FNSI. I have been horribly lax in keeping up with some of my favorite events. I've linked us so we can see what everyone else got up to through Wendy's blog.

So here's what I managed to accomplish:

I worked on my Mystery #2 QAL. The deadline is June 30, and that will be the big reveal for all the participants. I managed to get it quilted, hangers on and a label :)

Here is what I can show you :)

LOL - yes you get to see the back :)
Obviously, a wall hanging :)
And food related ;)

The backing fabric is from my days at Piece Goods Shops - back in the early 1990s. It is well preserved and I had pretty good taste, if I may say so myself.

And with the surge of all things French again, it's even timely.

This was a fun project and can't wait to show you the front :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with kindness.

Verse of the Day

Goals . . .

Here are my Goals for the week of June 4, 2018:

1. Crazy Quilt
- finish stitching block 2 DONE

2. Mystery #2
- begin assembly DONE,
as well as sandwiched and ready for quilting

3. Baby Quilt
- "git 'er done!!"
no progress

4. Christmas PJs
- get at least one pair done
I have fabric and pattern

5. June BOMs
- draw off Year in the Garden downloaded
Color Bear downloaded
Color Challenge downloaded
Starry Night downloaded
Fall into a Quilt  downloaded
Summer Fun downloaded

Some other things I did managed to get done:

The garden is in and all the compost we've collected/made over the winter is in the garden. It looks like really rich soil. I managed to get it done before the forecast rains came over the weekend.

Mending . . . does anyone enjoy it? Mostly I don't mind, except when I let it accumulate - which is what I usually do :(
It's done now :)

Wednesday was my BOM sewing class. This month, we worked on "bobbin work". It's done for texture and it ended up we either loved it or hated it. Me . . . I'm still on the fence :)

It ends up kind of messy, so I'm not in love with it.
