FNSI - Recap :)

What a busy Friday Night and Saturday I have had :) It started with choosing fabric and patterns - all of which I had and none of which I had to go out and purchase. I'm still Christmas sewing !! Every year I promise myself I'm not going to do this, but here I am again this year, sewing the week before Christmas.

But a productive couple of days I have had. I have seven (7) great nephews - well, actually nine (9) but two are under two years old. I purchased sleepers for the two youngest and decided to make pajama bottoms for the rest of them. Sizes ranged from 8 to men's large. I cut them all out Friday morning and sewed two of them Friday evening.

I sewed the last five (5) on Saturday. All I still need are waist measurements for the elastic, but should have them before Monday. Otherwise, I'm just going to get cotton cord and make drawstrings :)

Hope you are all enjoying this merriest of seasons. I'm feeling the pressure of not having things done, but I'm not stressing out. They will get done. I'm enjoying the music and messages, making ornaments with my Sunday School class and looking forward to two weeks with my family close and at home with me.

Phew !!!

The only thing worse than a sick child is a sick spouse :(  We spent the last two morning trying to get an ear infection under control. Here's hoping the antibiotics kick in soon.

On the way home, I had to stop and purchase gasoline for my car. I hate doingit, so I put it off as long as possible. Today was the deadline. We have a promotion at a local grocer call Fuel Perks. For every $50 you spend, you earn 10 cents off your gallon price. I'd accumulated $1.10 so it was a good time to fill my tank - plus I have to go to Mom's on Monday. Gas prices have dropped down to $2.21/gallon locally for regular unleaded. I got premium unleaded for $1.31 with my discount. I filled my tank for $13.00 !!!

Consequently, that means not much is getting done - just adding to my stress level. But I'm not in panic mode . . . yet :)

I did manage to get some cookies made today.

New this year - Candy cane :) They've been sampled and approved. 

Can't decide if Nina was soaking up the heat from the oven, or guarding the cookies :)

JoAnn's had these beautiful gift boxes for 70% off. How could I not??

This one is for BFF.

I found quite a few remnants while at JoAnn's. I'm going to fill that gift box for BFF with fat quarters that I make from the remnants.

I make my own FQs because then there's one for her and one for me :)

I also made treat bags for my great nephews and great niece.

My evening is being spent stitching on the binding for the third wall hanging.

Christmas, 2015 . . .

There's really no way to get around the gifts, is there? I mean unless you actually chuck the whole commercialism and avoid the gift giving. But I really go enjoy the giving (and let's be honest, the receiving) of gifts.

I've learned in the past few years, that I've become such a procrastinator. It's a personality trait that I really don't like. I don't just put off things I don't like doing, I'm not that discriminating. I put off most things.

To that end, I'm already thinking about Christmas, 2015 and planning my crafting calendar. There is already talk and supply lists for blocks of the month .

BFF and I are doing this one together. It sounds fun and look how bright the colors are :)

I've found quite a few considerations on Pinterest.

 

 

These are just a few. Towels and candles will be going on clearance in January, so taking advantage of sales will give a just start on the crafts and keep the gifts budget friendly. 

Since the nieces are grown and have their own homes, to keep gifts organized, I have copy paper boxes that Honey Do brings home from work with each families' name on it. When the gift is completed, it goes in the box. Makes it much easier to inventory and keep track of progress.

So, it's not to early to start planning and if the budget allows to start making some of those smaller items that are craftable. I know I will be :)

Weekend Update

I've been trying really hard lately to "keep holy the Sabbath". I didn't always feel so strongly about it, but in my Bible study, we are studying the life of Moses. We just finished the book of Exodus, where the Israelites were brought out of slavery and Egypt and given the Ten Commandments. So it's become very important to me to follow God's mandates.

Today, I didn't :(

 

I finished assembling the packets for the craft for next week. I found the idea on Pinterest.

This is the sample I found - I've chosen to use supplies we had on hand, so our trees will be multi-colored. They will be really cute :)

I also started assembling treat bags to be handed out. I had candy, but Newton was reading the ingredients while I filled and discovered there was peanuts. We have food alergies, so I'll be picking up candy canes or something less threatening.

Saturday was spent at home :) working on the quilted wall hangings for my nieces. I have one completely done and the other two are bound and just need stitched in place.

Excited about them being finished :)

I'm hoping to spend most of my week at home. It will be busy because it's the last week before school lets out for Christmas break - although they don't call it that any more, now it's "winter break".

Very Productive Friday

My day actually started Wednesday evening when I sandwiched three of these adorable pre-printed wall hangings.

My nice neat stack looks like this today - - but that's a really good thing. I spent my day machine quilting each of the wall hangings. My evening will be spent working on the bindings. I have the first one sewn and pinned in place for hand stitching. My goal is to get at least one completely done. The second one on Saturday and the final one no later than Monday.
