July 4th - and a long weekend

July 4th fell on Thursday this year and ended up being a long, four day weekend for Honey Do. It was a much needed stress reliever and long over-due.

To that end, I was busy too. My time sewing always gets interrupted so even some of the most simple projects can take all day to accomplish.

I was going to cut sashing for Vintage Farm Girl (my UFO Challenge) - never got to it.

I worked on block 10 of JoAnn's 1997.

There are two more left to do. If July is generous with time, I'll try to get those done too.

I moved on to this month's  baby quilt goal.

I had the applique pieces cut and ironed on to the background. Originally, this was going to be a gift pillow for a friend who had a VW Beetle in this color. It got totalled a couple of years ago, so is no longer relevant. I had it  laying on the table for several days and decided it would make an adorable baby quilt.

I shopped my stash and found some cute coordinates. I cut the blocks to frame and before you knew it . . .

The top was finished.

I did get to the Vintage Farm Girl.

I assessed what I had finished and layed out the order I wanted to sew things together.

I used it and the baby quilt to leader/ender each other. As a result of the chain sewing method I got three sets of two rows and one set of three rows all together.

Next step is to sew all these sets of rows together and border.

That was my Friday sewing.

Saturday was another productive day and I can't even tell you how happy that makes me.

I had the top of the baby quilt done. Next step, sandwich and quilt. I have more than enough flannel for backing and still have a couple of crib size batts in stock. So why not finish it.

BOOM !!!

DONE !!!

This is one of my absolute favorites !!
I did the binding while watching Honey Do flip channels on TV.

Saturday sewing is a wrap :)

And so was the weekend.

I spent Sunday in church and then getting ready for this week.

It will be another busy, hopefully productive one, but there are other things that need my attention . . . like laundry.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with the things that make and keep you happy.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Oh my gosh, I started the laundry this morning and then totally forgot about it! LOL I better go take care of the next load right away. You accomplished a lot on your weekend, and I'm so glad you had the time and relaxation to do it.
