Goals for the week of 10/9/16:

1. Christmas PJs

2. Lace Cabin

3. UFO - Quilted Palm Tree

4. Christmas Wall Hanging

5. House Quilt - Assemble quilt rack, mount quilt

I get little to nothing done in the sewing room on Mondays or Tuesdays. By the time I get home from Bible Study/Children's Program and take care of the dogs and deal with dinner . . .  I'm out of energy and motivation. I'm managing to stay home on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but spend half of those days doing household chores. I might have to consider shortening my goal list from five to three until we break for Christmas, for which I'll have three solid weeks at home.

I'm trying hard not to beat myself up, even these two items off the list are big. A gift and an old UFO are nothing to complain about. In the meantime, I still make progress on straightening and organizing my sewing space, keeping up house and yard and visits.

We are in the home stretch of yard work for the season.

These are sunsets from Tuesday night. We're seeing more clouds and the colors are amazing. These photos don't do them justice. The cloud formations in the top one are really interesting with the clouds pointing downward. I'd never seen anything like this before.

Over the weekend I was in the garden and ran across this beauty. In our research, Honey Do and I found that this patterning means a mild winter. I was kind of already expecting that.

Busy = Happy

The days are dawning pretty "dewy" around here.

Even though the mornings and over-nights are pleasant, the days have still gotten pretty warm. Warm now is the upper 70s, low 80s. Still humid in the early evenings. It's not 90, so no complaining here.

Believe it or not, this is around 9 a.m. on Wednesday. I was on my way to Mom's. I thought it was a gorgeous autumn sky.

Mom and I had a wonderful visit. She recently went to Canada for a family wedding. She enjoyed the visit, but was really glad to be home.

Look at this adorableness she gifted me after our visit !!
I put it in my kitchen window so it smiles at me every morning.

I managed to accomplish another goal from the list - one more pair of Christmas pj's.

I had an appointment on the west side of Cleveland Wednesday morning. When it finished I wanted to go to my favorite thrift shop, but I had about 30 minutes before they opened. So I drove around the area, just seeing what there is to see. You never know what cute little shops you'll find or something else of interest.

What I found was an exclusive neighborhood known as Edgewater Park. Newton has been here on field trips to go swimming in Lake Erie.
Isn't it a beautiful park?
I was thrilled with this find.

it's another week :)

And I'm actually off to a good start.

I spent my free time working on my goal list. This really doesn't look like much, but it's actually "hair" for my second Charlotte pincushion. The instructions call for yarn to be wrapped on skewers and sprayed with spray starch then baked for a few minutes to dry.
I wrapped my yarn on toothpicks, sprayed with the starch and let them dry in the pan over night.

While the yarn was drying, I finished assembling the pincushion.

On Tuesday, I finished her face and added her hair.

I also managed to get some of the smaller pieces drawn off and fabrics chosen for the lace cabin.

And . . .

The next pair of Christmas pj's have been cut out and just need to be sewn.

All in all, a very productive start to my week.

Weekly Goal Report

I love visitors to my garden - especially when they don't eat the produce :)

It's been a fairly decent week for me, though I haven't been able to blog all week, I did manage to get some things done.

Goals for the week of 9/18/16

1.  UFO - pin cushion - DONE

2.  Roman Shade - Sadly, no progress again. I'm taking it off the list and it will just end up as one of those bonus projects when it finally gets completed.

3.  Christmas PJs - DONE

4.  Farm Girl Vintage - DONE

All 12 blocks are now assembled, the idea for the finished top has been decided and designed, and I have 20 nine-patches to that end finished, as well.

5.  Log Cabin - prepare block for stitching.
I started working on this, but not far enough to post a picture.

Thursday, BF and I got together. We had a great time catching up, reminiscing, eating, showing off projects, sharing ideas and memories. As is our usual practice, we seem to end up with a new project. This week was no exception :)

I don't really need a new quilt, but this one is just too cute to pass up. I'm running with the "kissing" theme and adding some cute Valentine's fabric I had stashed and no project assigned to it.

I spent the evening coming up with a layout for the top and decided I needed three more "sheep" blocks. They came six to the package for around $4.00 (clearance pricing - such a wonderful thing). So Friday morning I packed myself up and went to get another pack. BF has already said she would take the other three off my hands.

These are a wonderful size - 18 inches !!!! So they will make fun, large blocks. My complimentary fabrics are a yard each, which will give me four large blocks out of each.

I've decided on a 10 inch deep row in between the 18 inch rows, but I still need to get that fabric. This will be making this a 90 plus inches of finished quilt. Perfect for my queen size bed. I've already begun to do the stitching on the first block.

No energy, no mojo

It's been a really rough week for me. I don't know if I'm just giving in to the humidity or I have a sinus infection. It's been in the upper 80s and humid all week. Monday, Rocky had to go to the vet. Wednesday and Thursday, I was dealing with a sore throat. Friday, I worked a half day and for the most part have felt like a limp noodle -
No energy
No mojo

So here is my goal report, but it's not very encouraging.

Goals for the week of 9/18/16

1. Charlotte pin cushion - I've misplaced the entire project

2. Roman shade - no progress again

3. Christmas pjs - pulled the pattern and fabric, no cutting or sewing

4. Log Cabin - prepare the block for stitching - didn't even pull out my supplies

5. Farm Girl Vintage blocks - block 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
(drum roll please)

DONE !!!!!!!

AND . . .

10 of 20 nine-patches for the finishing are done using up the scraps.

Goals for the week of 9/25/16:

1. Christmas PJs

2. Log Cabin - prepare block for stitching

3. Roman shade - yes, I'm putting it back on the list

4. House quilt - set up quilt rack and put quilt on it. Hand-quilting to be done, just not necessarily this week.

5. Scarecrow #2 wall hanging

The sinuses are still running wild, but I'm taking stuff for it and resting as much as I can. I can only sit and do nothing for so long and then I just do it.

Very rough start

The week is off to a very rough start.
Before Newton left for school, I was already vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom. I needed to keep my mind and hands busy.
Then we took a trip to the vet. Poor little Rocky had infections in both eyes. He couldn't keep them open and just wanted to be left alone.
And, since we're already here . . .
We'll just add insult to injury by updating his vaccines !!

Poor little guy, everyone was picking on him. He spent most of the day right there - on my bed.
On a positive note, he did run outside with the big dogs, then he was done.
As the day rolled on, he wasn't feeling any better. Another dose of baby Benadryl and some Gatorade, he was feeling more himself on Tuesday morning. Enough so I could go to Bible study and he ate and drank on his own once I got home.

I did manage on Monday evening to finish sewing two of the Farm Girl Vintage blocks.

This is going to be such a happy quilt :)
I'm thinking about finishes. The book offers some suggestions and I have scraps leftover that need to be used up. Wheels are turning.

I didn't get much done on Tuesday. Once I got home from the Children's Bible study, I took the dogs out, came in and started working on dinner. I didn't have an opportunity to sew until later in the evening.

And of course, that wasn't working either. I'd made some mistakes on this block on Monday evening, so I spent Tuesday evening with Dancing With The Stars and my seam ripper taking apart what I'd just sewn.
Once it was all unpicked, I set it aside. I'm going to try and finish this block on Wednesday.

Wishing you a day filled with countless blessings.
