Blessings

This week has been rough.  We've had to make some difficult decisions for our family in the last few weeks; there's been a vehicle accident, insurance claims and deductibles to pay, inconveniences to deal with; getting ready for school to begin and changing routines; my computer having issues; general everyday stresses....

So, where to look for the blessings?  I know they are there.  Most days I don't have to look for them.  But I think sometimes, many times, we need too.  I think we get complacent and just expect them to be there.

Over the last few years, I've learned to look for them.  Not just to expect them.  Sometimes, it's the phone call to a friend that will let you vent and share your stresses . .

Sometimes, they are in the unexpected little rose . . .

Sometimes, it's in the unexpected garden visitors . . .

Can you see the cicada on the tall stem?

Sometimes, it's in the project I'm working on . . .

Sometimes, it's just in having the modern conveniences . . .

They are always there:  the song on the radio, a Bible verse, the quiet, the hug from your child, the thank you note in the mail, the calm after the storm.  I've been looking all week.  As I said, it's been a rough week, a rough summer, a rough year.  Yeah, pretty much all of it.

Look for them, you'll find them.

I am, I have, I will continue to look for them.  I don't take my blessings for granted.  There is nothing that says they are guaranteed, a given.  Look for them, there's a blessing in the search, too.

Thank you for stopping by...

Wishing you a creative weekend.

Edi, I'm so sorry it's been a rough year. I agree with your post completely. When we are busy looking for our blessings, the rough parts don't seem so rough, we're concentrating on the positive in our lives. At the very worst points in my life, there were still blessings, and sometimes it's long after something, such as your vehicle accident, that I can see the blessings that came from it. It's never too late to find them, and to be grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for standing by us. I pray that you are able to find many blessings tucked into the dim corners of your life.

Always. If they aren't obvious, I start searching.
