Day One - July 31, 2013

Day one......

OK, this is my first blog post.  Probably no one will see it, but here goes.

I've gotten some encouragement and have been thinking about having my own blog for awhile now.  I read quite a number of them.  Most of them are crafters:  quilters, embroiderers, pattern designers, authors !!!!
I don't have any aspiration to design my own patterns or write a book.  Maybe, someday.... who knows.  Never say Never, right?

Most of the blogs I read I found by way of Pinterest and other bloggers, their favorites.  And what better reference than another blogger? And who doesn't love Pinterest?   Recipes, decorating ideas, fashion, jewelry (insert really happy face), crafts, crafts with free patterns (even happier face :).  Did I say FREE?  You betcha !!  I have so many free patterns that I'll spend the rest of my life making things and still not get them all done.  Not to mention all the talent out there that I would not have ever found had it not been for blog-land.  I've always loved crafting.  I've worked for Piece Goods and JoAnn Fabrics.  I've sewn since I was in junior high.  My mom is a fantastic seamstress, knitter, stitcher, cook (gotta love those German cooks).  And now I'm finally getting back to crafting full force.  I'm having such a good time "shopping" for patterns and stitching and sewing again.  All from the comfort of my home.  Saves gas and time - more time for crafting :)

Any way, I'm rambling, but I guess that's kind of what this is all about.  It's us "bloggers" putting our thoughts down, letting someone else read them.

I want to give a shout out to a very special, new friend who encouraged me to start this blog and assured me there would be people interested in what I have to say:
Wendy at http://sugarlanequilts.blogspot.com/;
my sister-in-law, Tina, who also encouraged me.
And I can't forget Carol who has for years encouraged me that I could make a quilt and got me back to embroidery in the last few years.  We are having such a great time.  That first quilt was hand pieced and is still in the process of hand-quilting.  It's been more than 20 years !!!!  My how time flies !!

These are my most recent projects.  I got them from Jenny at http://www.elefantz.com/.  I'm hoping to finish these by the end of the week.  I have a baby quilt to finish in the next week, so I have to make time to do that to.  Great nephew #8 is due in the next week.  His poor mommie, she's been ready for awhile but #8 isn't cooperating.

Well, I guess it's time to get back to my stitching.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you, Wendy. You were the proverbial straw on the camels back (in the most positive way) that lead to my final decision. I managed to figure out how to add my blogs list. Next on the adgenda: adding buttons :)

Thanks again for all your encouragement and support. I have to tell you - I'm already having fun.

Well, I've decided it's either going to be all or nothing. So far it feels pretty much "all". Jenny and Wendy are both wonderful ladies. Wendy is quickly become a very good friend, albeit long distance. I have met and talked to so many wonderful ladies who do blogs. I'm so glad I took the plunge. I'll be checking out your blog too, Narelle. :)
