Monthly Goals . . . So Far

Hard as I try, I can't seem to keep up with my blog these days. So, I'll post when I can and hope and pray that things settle down a bit so I can chat a little more often.

Here's what I had planned for April and how I have progressed so far:

1. Believe (link) BOM
- applique all the pieces in place
Done

(This is a picture of the block - it's not been appliqued yet, but I did get that part done.)

2. JoAnn's 1996 BOM
The original post said 1997, but that was incorrect.
- begin assembling blocks. Originally, without checking, I thought these had been started. That too was incorrect. I'm actually starting from scratch.
Done - blocks 1-5

In progress - blocks 6-7

 - assess progress on this project - Done
Now I need to start working on this one.

The first two blocks were finished. I have one seam on block three and all of block four to assemble, then all I have left to do is assemble the top.

4. Girls Getaway (link)
- continue stitching. Yes - almost finished.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with all the things that make and keep you happy.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

HQAL

It's time again for a recap of what we are working on over the last three weeks.  I think I've missed the last two reports, so I have plenty to share this time as I've been staying really busy.

First, I want to thank our hostess, Kathy of Sewing, Etc. If you are interested in becoming part of our group just contact her through the comments section on her blog and she will get you set up. And while you are there follow the links for the other lovely participants and see what they got accomplished.

This event is to encourage us to just stay creative. Hand work is not required, but most of us share what we've done by hand. Since I post somewhat regularly, I'm focusing on the hand work aspect of my projects. Here's what I've been working on and in some cases finished:

Baby quilts

These were in conjunction with Tracy's Mystery QAL which posted the end of March.

Doll quilts

These are for A Doll Like Me.

Girls getaway

I started this at the beginning of March. I have two months to stitch until the next block is received at the beginning of May.

Odds and ends

My UFO project for the month - one of 12 blocks.
Many of them require hand applique to finish the block. This represents Lily of the Valley.

Several years ago, I made these cute wall hangings for my nieces for Christmas. I finally finished one for myself. Embroidery and hand sewing to attached the fur and binding.

I made two. One will be a Christmas gift for a friend. I embellished hers with buttons and beads. Other hand work was the binding.

This doll didn't quite turn out as I had hoped. Her face is hand embroidered.

The year I made these, I made five of them and gave them all away. This one is mine :)

Hand work, besides the binding were the embroidery and button embellishments.

A UFO finish !!!
You guessed it, the binding on this one was done by hand :)

I hope you have all had a productive month. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the group did.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with the things that make and keep you happy.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Spring Has Sprung

Spring has finally sprung in northeast Ohio!!!

Each day has gotten warmer and drier. Saturday saw temps on the low 60s!!!

We've been anticipating such a day to begin our walks.

I found this log and was shocked at the perfect holes "drilled" into it. Assumption is woodpeckers.

The blooms are all from my garden. We've been enjoying some gorgeous days in between the rain and up and down temperatures. The daffodils actually prefer it a little cooler, so it's good for them.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with the things that make and keep you happy.

Wednesday Goals

My second day home all day this week.

Here is what I have planned for the day:

1. Believe Block 3
-applique all the pieces in place

2. JoAnn's 1997
- begin assembling blocks

- assess progress on this project

- continue stitching
Need to step it up, as I have this month to finish before the next block arrives. I don't want to get behind.

That should be enough to keep me out of trouble for a few hours.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with the things that make and keep you happy.

‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matt. 11:28 NIVUK

April Goals

Let's see what I can get accomplished in the month of April.

1.  UFO Challenge 1 - JoAnn's 1997 BOM

This is the packaging from the original purchase. None of the blocks are assembled, so I'm starting from scratch. I'm hoping just to have the top assembled by the end of the month. This is one of my oldest UFOs.

2. 12 Things Challenge #11 - I Love Home

I'm not sure how old this project is, at least it's in the beginning stages of completion. Not sure which project side-tracked me from finishing it. The design is from Jacquelynne Steves.

The goal is to get the blocks finished and the top assembled.

3.  "Believe" Block #3

Applique the pieces

4. "Girls Getaway"

Continue stitching and finish block 2.

5. Scrap Vortex

Continue piecing.

6. Baby Quilt

Choose fabrics
Make #5

7. Doll Quilt/Gown
Make one more of each

8. "Gingerbread Village"

Stitch/assemble block #3

9. One Christmas Gift
- February - choose, make
- March - choose, make
- April, choose, make

10. Sweet Land of Liberty (SLOL) QAL

- assemble first unit

That should keep me plenty busy for the month :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with the things that make and keep you happy.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Closing the Book on March, 2019

March is closing much faster than I would really like it to. Unfortunately, there is no way to stop it from happening.

It's been a busy month with a couple of Mondays for the pre-school Bible study children, transporting to and from during a week of work for Newton who was on spring break, a couple of trips to see Mom and one for one of my BFFs.

Honey Do had Friday off for a doctor appointment and I wrangled lunch out of him and he suggested pizza for dinner. This is a long overdue check up and one I'm grateful that he took the time to do.

When I'm not busy doing all that, I managed to squeak out some time for sewing and stitching. In fact, I'd rather being doing that than just about anything else these days.

I've spent this last week of the month catching up and finishing the goals I still had on my list.
