March 2023 - Finishes and Progress

March has been quite the whirlwind!!

There has been a lot of activity in the sewing room, unfortunately, I don't feel like much has been accomplished.

Here are the goals:

1. UFO/OMG

PLQS BOM - quilt and bind - Not started yet. When I checked and realized that it wasn't sandwiched yet, it went on the back burner. It will go on the April goal list.

2. Daisy Days #4 and #5

#4 DONE

#5 DONE

3. Hedge Hugs #3

- draw off the applique pieces and cut them out DONE, I managed to get the quilt top done. Quilting to be done at a later time.

Hedge Hugs #2

- sandwich and quilt, bind I decided to quilt this at a later time.

4. Baby Quilt - SAHRR

I found a panel in one of my boxes and will be making it into a baby quilt.

In progress - I have three more to make in similar fashion.

5. Misc. Easter projects. These are the bowl fillers that Sister and I made over the last four to six weeks. They are all done for this year. There are a couple of patterns we didn't get to that we may do next year.

6. Sister time YES !! Bowl fillers and we will be starting work on the Christmas Gnomes again.

As I said, it's been a busy month. Weather is starting to warm. We had some major wind over the weekend, so we are slowly cleaning up all the downed branches. Conversations are taking place about vegetable gardens. I'm getting ready for a visit from a very good friend. The guest room is finally cleaned up, organized and set up for her visit.

I am thrilled with how this turned out.
The tray was a gift from a neighbor our first Christmas in our new home. It has a berry stain, so I repainted and added some decals to it. It was the perfect size for this project. I can use it for the next season when these cuties get put away until next year.

Fluffy butts :)

Chocolate bunny trio.

Embroidered eggs

6. Sister time YES !!

We spent Saturday working on finishing our Spring Bowl Fillers.

It's been a fairly productive week. Unfortunately, the month is just flying by and my biggest project has still not been touched :(

Here's hoping this coming week is even more productive.

Enjoy the first week of spring!!

Decorated fabric eggs.

Most recent bowl filler was this little bird.

Scrap Happy - March 2023

Scrap Happy is a group I joined to help encourage the use of scraps from our stash and to encourage each other to use what we have. I find that relatively easy to do as I'm trying not to add any unnecessary purchases to my stash. As I sit and write this, I'm looking at my stash and seeing lots of older, tired fabrics that just need to be used up or destashed. Most of the pieces are less than a yard.

So what scrappy goodness did I manage in the last month?

 Let's see . . .

Spring Bowl Fillers.

How adorable are these?

These projects are being done with my sister. We are both enjoying the creative process of deciding how to decorate each of these.

Bits and pieces of cottons and wools, embroidery and beads, ribbons and lace.

Tiny Houses Quilt

Each block is a different month. The scrapiness comes from the sashing around each block, each one coordinating with the these for that month.

SAHRR - Stay at Home Round Robin

What a great use of scraps. The center block was gifted from Moira. That block then determined how I would complete each "round". I made it baby quilt size.

Hedge Hugs #2 Baby Quilt

Another great use of scraps. I decided this year to make each block the focal point of the baby quilt. Much easier than quilting a large quilt at the end of the year. With twelve blocks, I will potentially have twelve donation quilts at year's end.

I decided on a simple, favorite block, the nine patch. I have a pretty good collection of juvenile prints and decided on a variety since there isn't enough of any given fabrics for a whole quilt.

Dinklemaus pin cushions.

These were supposed to be heating pads, but not what I wanted. So I cut the pattern down and made pin cushions. They are still a little bigger than I wanted, but cute none the less. These will go in the gift bin for future use.

 Thank you Kate for hostessing.

Goals for March, 2023

These are the goals for the month. I'm starting a bit late because February rolled over into the first week of March.

1. UFO/OMG

PLQS BOM - quilt and bind

2. Daisy Days #4 and #5

#4 was finished during the past week :)

 3. Hedge Hugs #3

- draw off the applique pieces and cut them out

Hedge Hugs #2

- sandwich and quilt, bind

4. Baby Quilt - SAHRR

I found a panel in one of my boxes and will be making it into a baby quilt.

5. Misc. Easter projects.

I've collected some patterns and small projects in the last year and I want to get those done.

6. Sister time

- My sister's birthday is next weekend, hoping we get to do something fun to celebrate.

- continue working on bowl fillers.

Smaller list this month. This should make goals more doable. I'm starting to plan too many things and getting frustrated because I don't have as much time as I think I do to get things done. Not to mention, my space is getting more than a little messy !!

Have a good, productive week.

Goals Accomplished for February 26-March 4, 2023

These were the things I hadn't yet accomplished for the month. Unfortunately, the week ran over. So I guess I won't be making any new goals for the week of the 5th through the 11th. This will somewhat impact my monthly goals, but we'll just take it one at a time and go from there.

1. SAHRR - binding DONE

The log cabin was gifted to me by Moira and the beginning of this round robin. I had never done one before. Since Moira started with black, white and grey, I continued with black and white. Mine is decidedly different from the suggestions in the sew along, but I'm happy with the end result. Moira sent more blocks, and I'll finish those in the same manner as this one as soon as I can.

2. CQ - finish last three panes DONE

Not that a crazy quilt is ever really done, so I've been told.

3. One Garment - cut out and sew DONE

This is one of the quickest patterns I've every worked with, unfortunately, it doesn't fit. So it will be donated. It's a shame because it's really what I wanted as far as style is concerned.

4. Hedge Hugs Block 2 - baby quilt DONE

Well, the top is anyway :) And I love it !!

5. One gift - make one for each scrappy basket DONE

These sewed up much larger than I wanted. They are actually meant to be warmers for soothing aching muscles. I cut them down so I could make pin cushions. They will go in the gift bin. I'm pleased with the end results.

6. Sister Time - next bowl fillers

The pattern has been purchased and printed. We haven't begun yet.

Update: we have begun.

From left to right: colorful eggs. They are ready for stuffing. There are a couple more that will be embroidered before stuffing.

First bunny, some small embroidery before stitching front and back together and stuffing.

"Carrots", they are ready for stuffing and the fronds on top.

Extras:

Crabapple Hill Annual Stitch Along DONE

The stitching on this sweet little project is finished. I will take some time to think about how I want to finish it for displaying. I have loved working on this one.

I will post next month's goals in a separate  post. Have a good week.
