I would like to wish everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous year. I have no complaints about how my last year had been, but I know there are those who have had a difficult time. So I'm over here counting my blessings.
Blog Writing Challenge
Day 1 - Introduction
First of all, I would like to thank Susan for suggesting this to me. I haven't blogged in a year and a half and this suggestion is a good jump start back in.
Who am I?
I am Edith, Edi, Edi Jo, E
Wife - I live with my husband of 23 years!! That time really did fly. These days, even though he is still working full time, we get to spend much more time together.
Mother of one very independent son, "Newton", aged 21. Attempting to navigate empty nest. Although, he has been replaced by his grandfather. Newton is doing pretty well on his own in his first apartment, after a year and a half
Sister - I'm blessed to be able to spend a lot more time with my sister as well. She is also very crafty, so every chance we get we're making something together . . . in the sewing room, garden or kitchen.
Daughter - Mom is doing fairly well for 85 and lives with my brother. I don't get to spend as much time with her since I'm no longer her primary caregiver, but everything has it's season and God knows best.
Friend - something we all strive to do better. We have good neighbors and they have afforded us the ability to be able to do couple things occasionally. That has been very nice.
Follower of Jesus - I accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior when I was a teenager. I tried really hard to be a good witness and example of his love. I enjoy going to Bible study and delving deeper into his word.
These are rough and not carved into stone, but a guideline.
1. Blog more consistently
2. Embroidery - probably my favorite past time.
- Daisy Days BOM (Elefantz designs)
- Crazy Quilt (started several years ago, time to finish)
3. Color Block Challenge - January is pink
4. UFO - Maggie's First Dance (Jacquelynne Steves)
5. Sew - one garment per month (I have lots of apparel fabric I want to use)
- baby afghan (gift)
- grocery tote
7. Quilt - one baby quilt (donation)
8. Read - at least one book per month
This is my first post in a year and a half. Things got crazy between August, 2020 and April, 2021.
In August, we got mom's house ready to sell and move her. The house sold in November and eventually, she moved in with my brother and his wife.
At the beginning of 2021, Honey Do helped his day move back from Texas to live with us.
In May, 2021, we finally found and bought a house!!! Newton moved out into his first apartment. FIL decided he didn't want to stay in the house by himself, so in August, 2021, he moved in with us (again).
The house became investment property (it's still sitting empty) so I transplanted all my flower beds to the new house. Everything moved well and survived except the lilac. We put in a vegetable garden, got two sets of ducks, prepped wood for winter heating. I did Bible study via Zoom the first year and in person this year.
We've split wood and Honey Do built a duck coop. I collect eggs every morning from the ducks.
The white ones are Pekin and there's only one female, but she's a very good layer.
The brown ones are Khaki Campbells, all female and good layers too. Their eggs are smaller, like chicken eggs. But they are smaller ducks.
Both sets are very sweet natured.
I think that's enough for my first post back. I'm hoping to blog a couple of times a week. Beginning and end :)
Here's hoping I can keep up with myself.
Have a very blessed week.
Yay, so good to see you back! I love seeing all those eggs! Wow! Is that Pekin duck like they serve in Chinese restaurants? Duck is dark and a little greasy, but it's supposed to be healthy, I like it a lot in some Chinese dishes, but roasted for Thanksgiving wasn't my favorite. =) Your life has been busy. I didn't realize the house hadn't sold. Will he rent it out?
Cute ducks, and lots of yummy eggs there. I hadn't realized that the other house hadn't sold. is he going to rent or try listing it for sale again?
It's so good to see you blogging and sewing again Edi! Ooooh I love seeing all those eggs! I want to get ducks too.. but first chickens! xx
