Wintery Friday

My day started with shoveling snow :)

First snow of the season.

We have about 4 inches on the ground this morning and it's snowing like it's not going to stop any time soon.  Honey Do told me the weatherman said we're stuck in a "band" with more snow expected. I really don't mind and the dogs love playing in it.

This is what 9:00 a.m. looked like . . .

And 11:00 a.m. All toll, we got between 4 and 6 inches.

Newton was home from school . . . in-service day for the teachers. So we played cards, made dinner (venison chilli), and cookies.  I tried stitching on my Quilter's Garden block, but didn't get very far.

What is one more rough day after a week of them?

My morning started with transportation not arriving to pick up Newton for school.  So . . . off we went.

Check my tire pressure?? !!

I just had this done . . . 

I went to my neighborhood service guys after dropping Newton off at school, checking in with Honey Do, cancelling/rescheduling mom. Temperatures has dropped into the 30s from the 70s and this can affect your tire pressure. I already guessed that, but it was nice to have it confirmed.

10 minutes, $0.00 and I'm good to go :) I love those guys :)

Next stop, the library.  I'm having withdrawals :)

I did two of these - one to keep, one to swap. All that's left to do is the hand-stitching.

One the weather front . . .

This is how our day started . . .

Mondays !!!!

So goes the week.

Do you find that to be true? I do. Mondays always see to start out with a bit of dread . . .

If you work, you have to go back to work . . .

If you are a student, back to school . . .

If you don't work, chances are you have to get someone off to work or school or both.

My Mondays usually start slowly, dreadfully. I always feel tired, so not very enthused but once I get up, get moving and make the decision how my day is going to go, I'm fine. I'm ready to hit my day head on and get lots of things done.

I alternate between chores and stitching/sewing. Mondays are catch up from the weekend days. My laundry is usually done going into Saturday, so Monday beds are stripped and re-made, vacuuming, dusting, errands.

One thing I don't have to do today is plan this week's menu. I'm putting something new in practice at my house. I am going to inventory my freezer and pantry, then over the weekend I'm sitting down with Honey Do and we are going to plan a menu for the week. My freezer needs cleaned out, so what better way than to use what you already have.

Today started out crispy, but forecast is in the 60s for the next couple of days then we are back down in the 30s. There are several prepared soups leftover from previous meals in my freezer. Don't you just love menu planning when all the hard work is already done? :)

I spent part of the weekend shopping Pinterest for some Christmas ornament ideas for my Sunday School class. This morning while out running errands, I stopped at my church. We have a craft supply room we can shop before we have to go out and purchase supplies for anything we might need. I found a boxful, All I have left to do is organize it and make my shopping list.

Weekend craftiness

After my week of retreat I feel energized and ready to continue with working on my crafts and getting more projects accomplished. I feel like I'm going to have a very successful end of the year. I hope you are finding yourself in the same place with your projects.

First up, menu planning.

It's not always my favorite job as a homemaker, but I feel it is necessary. If you have a plan, getting meals prepared and on the table is so much easier. I found this magnetic pad at a local discount store. I think it will be perfect as a tool for this project. So much so, in fact, I'm thinking about going and getting a couple more just to have on hand. There's 52 pages and a pen for $2.00. Can't beat that.

Next up, Quilter's Garden.

All the components for two blocks are cut out. I will probably begin sewing on Sunday or Monday. My evening will be spent stitching Bethlehem.

The mailman also brought my October swap block from the Lovely Ann in Utah.

All I have left to do is add the "blade" and "screw".

Which I did :) 

It's a lovely addition to my collection.

Friday Night With Friends

My "Friday Night" began Friday morning, as it usually does :)

Here's what I got about:

 

A fair amount of time purusing Pinterest for craft ideas for my Sunday School class.

Every year my church participates in Good Samaritan's Purse Shoebox Gifts. Every year I say I'm going to participate and every year I let things get in the way and just don't get around to meeting the time frame and participating. This year is different. I had boxes from last year, so all I had to do was fill them. They are done and ready to go back to church next Sunday. Boy do I feel good :)

Finally, re-hung these pictures :)

My evening was spent working on the baby quilts.

 

Next step is sandwishing and then quilting and binding. I'm hoping to finish them this week.
