It's time again to report our progress. I missed the chance last time around, so this may be a longer report than it might have been.

Progress on my Spring Row Along. This one is several years old and was my UFO for the month of June. I didn't make tons of progress, but every little bit will help toward finishing this row.

Another goal that has finally gotten some attention and progress is Sweet Land of Liberty. This is a Facebook group I belong to as well as being encouraged by the sweet Susan (yes the same one listed above). 

The eagle's head is really hard to see.

With a single thread of light brown I outlined it with a back stitch. Shows up a little better without being over powering.

Another block to make progress on Sweet Land of Liberty is this basket. The letter is hand stitched.

The binding on this baby quilt was hand sewn. You'll be seeing more of these as they are also a monthly goal.

As are these doll quilts. Again, just the binding.

 

A bonus project appeared. I found this mini charm pack in one of my boxes and decided it would make a cute mini wall hanging. It was quick to sew up and sewing the binding on my hand didn't take long either. My hands were pretty sore for a few days though :)

My goal for May was to finish my Holly Cottage quilt top.  I did. I did have some detail work - embellishments to add and got those done during the end process. All the other embroidery had been done when I worked on the project initially a couple (or is it a few?) years ago.

I  added the "fur" trim to the stocking.

The red heart button on top of the Plum Pudding.

Those are just a few. I sprinkled buttons and beads throughout the quilt.

A new Christmas block of the month is on month #6. Added a face to this sweet little gingerbread man.

 

A Facebook Group invite initiated a new project. I've been wanting to do this one for a while and now is the perfect time to get started. It's called Betsy's Closet.

 

I found the vintage hankies at a thrift store several years ago and were the inspiration for thread and coordinating fabrics.

 

I spent an afternoon drawing off the six of the nine designs, since I only have six hankies. Then I stabilized them. Ready for stitching.

These are the fabrics I chose for sashing and nine patches.

So it's been a really busy few weeks. I hope you were able to get some things checked off your list.

Working on Goals

Today still looks like this. We've added a few degrees to the thermometer, the forecast is for scattered showers the rest of the week. And we were without an air conditioner for a couple of days. 

God is good. The repairs were managed after calls to three different companies. Took less than 30 minutes. The repairman was almost two hours early. And the cost was only $135 !!!

Is it autumn yet?

It took about 24 hours for the temperature to come down to a comfortable place.

The last few weeks, my days are starting about 5 a.m.

Sorry Night Owls, that's just how things go around here.

Breakfast, dogs and morning chores are done and I was free to work on my goals.

I didn't post my goals on the first, the list doesn't change all that much except for the UFO Challenge and the 12 Things I Want To Do. 

I began my goals with "Believe" block of the month. 

 

It's block #6. Isn't it adorable. I love how this is coming together. It arrived a couple of weeks ago, but I was finishing up June's goals. These are relatively easy and quick blocks to do. The hardest part is making sure you have everything placed correctly.

First goal done !

My second goal was to draw off a design called Betsy's Closet.

I was invited to join a Facebook Group doing this project. I've had this pattern for a while. It's copyrighted 2012. It made the rounds a few years ago and I loved the design.

Things come together slowly and with intention.

I found these vintage linen hankies at a thrift store and they are the background for the designs. I knew it as soon as I found them.

Fabric and threads followed quickly.

 

There is a total of nine designs. Since I only have six hankies, I chose six of the nine for my project. The project finishes at less than 30 inches. 

I haven't decided if I'm going to make it that small and a wall hanging, or make it a small bed-size quilt for a little girl.

Once the design were drawn, I stabilized and I'm ready to stitch.

Second goal accomplished.

Goal number three . . . boy, I'm on a roll !!!

UFO Challenge #12 = Vintage Farm Girl

Another older UFO - not one of the ancient ones.

This one was a block of the month at a local quilt shop. They sold the blocks as kits for $5.00/month and you needed the book, which I already had. 

As I unpacked the box I found the blocks that I managed to stay current with the blocks and a bunch of nine patches made from leftover scraps of the blocks. I also found a rough sketch of early plans for the quilt.

I laid the blocks out and took lots of photos to help me remember placement.

 

 

I'm short a couple of nine patches. I'll make those first and start cutting my sashing. The goal for the month is to get the top assembled. 

Goal number three is in progress.

It was a very productive day.

And then . . .

Someone interrupts . . . 

And says it's time to do something else :)

Since this was during my first goal, I was able to put him off for a bit. We did go outside and that appeased him until the a/c repairman came. He was done with sewing time for sure by then.

June Goals

Let's see what I can get accomplished in the month of June.

1.  UFO Challenge #9

DOD Spring Row-along

Added some more detailing for stitching. Half of the block is finished but I still had the other half to work on.

I didn't take a before photo. I made progress on this section but have a long way to go.

2. 12 Things Challenge #9 - YES

Sweet Land of Liberty - I had to rethink this goal because what I had originally listed (the Color Bear Challenge Quilt) was already completely finished. So this project is finally getting the priority it deserves and needs.

I did it, I finally got it started !!!

Three blocks done !!!

3.  "Believe" Block #5 - DONE

Applique the pieces

11. Scrap  Vortex Quilt
I pulled this out about mid-way through June. I have made, what I feel, is significant progress.

There are three distinct rows, all sewn together and it's large enough to hang over the bed at least six inches on either side. I may still add more, or I may just let a border add the extra inches. I want it to be over-sized, maybe king on a queen bed so we can use it over the winter and have plenty of cover.

That kept me plenty busy for this month :)
