Monday Goals

There is NO school again today !!! School began January 3rd. Newton has been in school one day since it went back in session. He's almost as frustrated as I am. Not that I really mind him being home, but you can only play so many video games. Fortunately, he's been playing with some friends from school, so he is getting some social interaction.

It's a mess out there, especially because the temperatures are finally on the up swing.

For Monday's goals. There are so many projects swimming around in my head I have to make a list and prioritize them. LOL

1. Dresden plates for the Crazy Quilting project.
- cut out
- begin sewing

2. ThermoWeb Christmas Ornaments.
- sash block 3
- finish stitching block 4

3. Pull fabrics for upcoming projects.

4. Work on Advent blocks.
- finish sewing
- start assembly on quilt top

That should be plenty to keep me busy on this snowbound day.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you kindness from everyone you meet.

Verse of the Day

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

HQAL - 15 Minute Challenge - Stash report

Can you tell there is a lot going on in my world???

First up, Hand Quilt A-Long (HQAL).

I was encouraged to join this group of lovely ladies as we share and encourage each other in our journey to stitch and finish projects. Not surprisingly, there are some really talented people that I have the privilege of being in their company.

So what did I hand quilt? Fortunately, the rules aren't hard and fast and applique is included.  I have been trying to finish the four ornaments sponsored by ThermoWeb.  add link I finally finished block three and have begun block four.

I'm hoping to have the entire project finished by the end of the week.

I hope you can visit Kathy's blog and see what the other ladies have accomplished.

Next, the 15 minute challenge

I LOVE THIS

I think anything that encourages you to do what you love is a good thing.

This challenges you to spend at least 15 minutes per day stitching, sewing, quilting, etc. Doing whatever you love for a minimum of 15 minutes. That doesn't sound hard. It's not a lot of time, but it's amazing how quickly your day gets away from you. There are no hard, fast rules for tracking your time. I know I managed to get in at least 15 minutes on my projects everyday.

Last, but not least, my stash report. I'm hoping this will curb some of my spending!!! Haha.

Existing stash - enormous!!!

New in: 1 yard for Mystery QAL (deadline is March, 2018)

Stash out: 1 yard (Jar toppers wall hanging) from "enormous" stash. And since I didn't inventory this with actually numbers, it is what it is :)

 Net: +1.00 yard

All in all, a very productive week which includes one finish :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you kindness from everyone you meet.

Tuesday's Goals . . . Thursday Goals . . .where did my week go????

Timing is everything.

I've been trying to stay on top of downloading paterns that have been offered recently. One of the ones I'm late to the party for, but have decided I want to make is I Wish You a Merry. I needed block 12. As I was downloading, I found I needed block 11 also. In the nick of time, I got the last two. I have you linked if you are interested. The link has a list of all 12 patterns to make it easier for you to download. They are free until mid-January.  Better hurry.

Next up, working on the jar topper wall hanging.
I made good  progress and finished the project on Thursday.

It's all put together and all that's left is hand-sewing the binding in place. I even remembered to put a hanger on the back!!

We're skipping Wednesday because I spent the day with Mom and only had time to work on Thermoweb Ornaments.

After I finished the Jar Toppers, I worked on this one. So to catch you up - Block one is framed, block two is half framed, block three is almost finished with stitching then I can move on to block four.

This is the progress made on block two.

My new washing machine arrived early Thursday morning. I was the first stop. I've been without one since mid-December. We tried to get it repaired. Timing due to Christmas and New Year didn't help. And I'm the long run it just made more sense to purchase a new one. The other one was almost 10 years old.

So between projects, I caught up my laundry. Mom was very generous letting me use her machine.

Friday my day just flew past me. I did a little cleaning and rearranging and finished reading a book.

I hope you all had a good first week of 2018. I feel really good having officially finished a project.

Thanks for stopping by.

I am the Lord, who search the heart and prove the reins, who give to every one according to his way, and according to the fruit of his devices.

Monday progress, Tuesday goals

Monday was a very relaxing day with none of the usual pressures to get things done.

I worked on a couple of things. First, the jar toppers we found while cleaning a bedroom at mom's. I finished stitching them last week and now putting them together into a small wall hanging.

I machine applauded them to the backyard with matching thread, then added opposing sashing.

Tuesday's goal is to wash the final two, and hopefully move on to assembling the whole project.

For Monday evening, I spent some time stitching on the Thermoweb Christmas blocks. I'm hoping to sash block two as part of my Tuesday goals.

If time permits, cutting out pieces for Dresden played that I'll be using for my crazy quilt project. This is still very much in the planning stage.

To round out my Monday, I was able to out up 12-14 quarts of chicken stock.

Honey Do was pretty impressed, especially since ends up costing nothing but a little bit of time. It all comes from scraps of vegetables and a little bit of chicken.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you kindness and creativity.

New Year's Day - New Beginnings

This is an excellent way to begin the year.

We are getting a lot of snow - more than we are used to at this time of year. Fortunately, I don't have to go anywhere for the next couple of days.

Having said that, I should be getting lots done around my house and in my sewing room :)

The holidays were wonderful.

My first set of matching family pajamas were a huge success and an order for next year has already been placed.  This makes me very happy :)

I got this sweet set of four jar toppers from mom last week while we were cleaning and reorganizing a bedroom. She started them back when she worked for a company called Creative Circle. The copy right date was 1984 !!!

It only took me an afternoon to finish stitching and prepare them for the background fabric I chose.

A running stitch helped to turn the raw edges under and prepare them to be machine appliqued.

These are the finishing fabrics I chose.

This was my goal for Monday.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you kindness on your journey.

Happy New Year

(Image from Yahoo)

My wish and prayer is that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. I don't know about you all, but this year has flown.  We are so busy, I think we just work our way right through without even realizing it.

December was more than a bit of a blur. I was anticipating a full week between my last Bible study class and Christmas break from school to finish sewing, shopping, wrapping, baking with mom and decorating the house.

I was offered an opportunity to help with an inventory that was only two weeks of employment. I jumped at the opportunity. Consequently, some things suffered but only due to time. I did what I could after work. The job ended a few days early, so I could play catch up between appointments and errands.

A Friday night marathon finished Honey Do's quilt. He had an overnight sleep study, so I had free time to devote to the project. He came home Saturday morning with breakfast, made coffee, then helped me finish wrapping Newton's gifts. How blessed am I?

We had a beautiful, white Christmas, the coldest we've had in years and the whitest. A very relaxing, quiet day at home. Mom was supposed to spend the day with us, but she's really been struggling to manage pain in her shoulders and hip.  We spent Tuesday with her, my youngest niece and her boys.

I spent the week between Christmas and New Year's catching working on projects that I wasn't able to finish and tried preparing for upcoming goals. I wasn't home as much as I would have liked, but Mom is a major priority for me these days, putting my wants on the back burner. And I'm ok with that. There honestly are enough hours  in the day to work on my projects.

Here's to a blessed year, filled with lots of fun projects, and

Especially kindness and love toward everyone.
