Domestic Bliss

But first the good news . . .

We got rain :)
It's a pretty good downpour and it's the second day in a row.
No - I'm not complaining :) It has been a very dry summer, so we are grateful for whatever comes our way at this point.

And the domestic bliss . . .

My Saturday morning started with breakfast, coffee and cleaning up the kitchen and starting laundry.

Then I moved on to baking . . .

Yes, there appears to be one missing. I guess quality control is working today :)

From there I moved on to the zucchini.
I have a sinkful of these beauties.
How happy am I?
Last year I planted but didn't get one single squash.
This year, so far, I have nine !!!!

First up, zucchini bread.

Then . . .

I moved on to zucchini pie.

I love having fresh things from the garden as I need them.

The pies will go into the freezer for later in the year.
Are you thinking about winter yet?
I usually start about the beginning of August because that's when things start to come in from the garden. This will be the first time I try to freeze zucchini pie.
I'm going to find other things to put in the freezer to prepare for winter and busy days. I have recipe books designed specifically for freezer meals. I just need to get my supplies together. The list is started.

Well, I'm off to work on my lace cabin, bumble bee hive and a quilt label.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with countless blessings.

Yay for rain!! We're in a mini-drought here, we sure could use some. Love seeing your garden producing like that- maybe I'll have one next year!!!

Your garden is doing well by you! I'm glad you had the rain to help it along, too. We are off and on, hit and miss. But I have no garden to care. I don't cook ahead. Sometimes if I make a meatloaf, I'll make two, something like that, but I don't have all that much room, even with the chest freezer downstairs. It was free to me, but if I'd been buying one, I would have bought a smaller one. =) Something easier to get in and out of. As it is, I have 24-packs of water on the bottom to bring food up to where I can reach it.
