Louisville, Kentucky - Day 1

Gone . . . Again?

Yes, I’ve been AWOL . . . again !!! But this time it’s not really my fault. I didn’t really choose to be gone – at least from my blog. Honey Do had a trade show to attend in Louisville, Kentucky. He wanted me to go along and of course, I did so willingly. It’s actually my annual trip away from home. I secured room and board for Newton and my father-in-law came for a visit and is caring for my pups and birds. I prepared lots of stitchery projects to take with me. I can only shop so long and so much and relish the quiet and solitude of the hotel room to be with my projects and my thoughts. Unfortunately, the internet was uncooperative and wouldn’t allow me to keep up my blog.

Anyway, here’s what we did:

Tuesday was spent traveling and setting up at the trade show. It was about a six hour ride and Honey Do is an excellent driver/chauffeur.  I’m a terrible navigator but do my best to talk to him and keep him entertained. I also do my best to capture the trip in photos.

Lots of open road . . .

Gorgeous white and purple irises at a highway rest area. I fell in love with the all whites.

Cincinnati, Ohio skyline.

Old architechture in Cincinnati - I love old buildings and tunnels (not . . . ), this one was short and quick.

More open road once we crossed over into Kentucky.

Are we there yet? Almost :)

Bridges over the Ohio River.

Ohio River.

Even saw a vintage car - he was cruising at a pretty good speed.

Everything is back to full foliage after winter. The greens were amazing.

Lots of shale (I think it's shale).

Louisville, Kentucky skyline.

And the Ohio River . . . again.

Mohammed Ali has his own arena in Louisville.

The architechture is amazing.

Our room - beautiful. I don't think we've stayed in a bad one yet.

The view from our room !!!

More gorgeous architechture - The Old Spaghetti Warehouse (restaurant).

Stained glass window of Louisville in the Convention Center.

An evening stroll brought us down to the Ohio River. Moored was the Belle of Louisville.

Louisville is also home to Louisville Slugger baseball bats.

I didn't get the name of this building but the dome lit up every night was gorgeous.

Cinderella's carriage was available to rent.

One of several parks in the downtown area.

A memorial to all the winning jockeys of the Kentucky Derby. Names and roses adorned the plaques on the sidewalk.

Sunset on the Ohio River.

And that was how our first day ended. It was a good day all around.

Thanks for stopping by,

Wishing you a day filled with creativity.

What great pictures! I love that little red vintage car. It's a lot like the black one we had when I was little - and it was old then! Did you take a Cinderella ride? You saw so many neat things there.
